Over the weekend, American Airlines (AAL) had an issue with boarding passengers that will remind the market of the drama at United Airlines (UAL) about two weeks ago. With over 1.5 million annual flights, the airlines are bound to have boarding problems and the issues with the media spin of the United case have made it more likely for this to occur Regardless though, the airlines stocks are exceptionally cheap. As the below chart of United Airlines shows, the stock had a much bigger issue in March when the market was concerned about capacity in the sector than the passenger issue in April. Another big passenger issue in the sector could have a bigger immediate impact on the stocks Monday though one can suggest this only highlights the struggles of a busy schedule and passengers that don't listen to flight attendants. The passenger in the American Airlines case clearly failed to check a stroller and probably didn't listen to the directions of the flight attendant. Even in the video, she is clearly still requesting the stroller after the incident occur that is in violation of the boarding policy. At some point, the passengers have to be held accountable for their actions and exactly why most reasonable passengers won't have problems flying. Buy the airline stocks on any major turbulence next week. Disclosure: Long AAL, UAL
