Twitter (TWTR) has increasingly become a place for corporations to troll the decisions made by competitors. Today was the opportunity for Wendy's (WEN) to take a shot at McDonald's (MCD). McDonald's made the declaration that the Quarter Pounders would be served with mostly fresh beef starting in 2018. The fast food joint is making a push to improve the quality of their food though this comes at additional costs. https://twitter.com/McDonalds/status/847437430693052418!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],p=/^http:/.test(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=p+"://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");My immediate thought was that this announcement only seems to solidify and point out that the other burgers aren't made with fresh beef. Are consumers really going to order the frozen burgers next year?Well, Wendy's took the opportunity to point out the obvious via a Promoted Tweet that now has over 100K likes. https://twitter.com/Wendys/status/847478772311834626!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],p=/^http:/.test(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=p+"://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");Sometimes its best to not point out the dirty secrets that all already knew, but pretty much ignored. My guess is that McDonald's has a lot of explaining to do over the next month. Who wants a frozen Big Mac now?Disclosure: Long TWTR
