Under Armour (UA) is soaring nearly 7% today on a ticker symbol change. The question is whether the market even knows what they are buying. Under Armour made the following ticker changes prior to the market open. UA - changed from UA.C for the Class C shares (non-voting)UAA - changed from UA for the Class A shares (voting)The athletic apparel maker changed the symbol for the previous C shares that have no voting power due to the gap between the shares. In order to not confuse investors, the question is why the shares weren't changed to UAC. Even after the big rally since the ticker symbol announcement on November 28, the C shares trade at $27.00 while the normal A shares trade at $32.15. The gap of over $5 is still substantial just for voting power considering CEO Plank maintains control of the voting powers. The recommendation though is to wait for the stocks to dip back to the previous lows before jumping owning Under Armour. More research:Under Armour: Value in The C SharesDisclosure: No position
